How to Increase Internet Browsing Speed

August 6, 2009 by Amit Bhawani

People who are using USB Data Cards to browse the Internet while on travel or at business, would always be in a worry about their next broadband access bill, because most of these cards come on a download based packages and very less number of service providers would offer with a completely unlimited package.

Firefox Images Block Add-onThe best way to increase your internet browsing speed would be by Blocking the Images loading on your browser. Many a times while you are reading different blogs you would find that there are different images which are also loaded in the background which take up a lot of broadband and also slow down the web pages loading. While you are on a slow internet connection its recommended to block all the un-necessary material which is downloaded through your browser which can include Background Audio Files, Images and Videos. You can do this stuff directly using your browser itself.

Block Images Pop-up Ads Firefox

This is a browser option but if you want another option which can implement the same job through a Firefox Add-on called Image Block 3.5. Image Block Add-on displays a button which would allow you to block/allow loading of images on websites. This would mean that the website if accessed through data cards, wifi internet, internet via bluetooth or slow connections like GSM/GPRS/EDGE dial-up would still loading in a good speed.

IMPORTANT: To use this addon on some systems you need do follow these steps after installation. Go to View-> Toolbars -> Customise, from the dialog box drag the Image Block button onto the Navigation toolbar. Now you can use it to toggle image blocking.

Opera 10 with Turbo enabled could save few data though images are turned on, as it minimizes the quality of it.
