How to Find IMEI Number Anti-Theft Security Trick
Mobile phone thefts are increasing day by day and the annual losses are ranging in around 500 crore rupees which is a huge amount of money. You can also be a victim of mobile phone theft like me who lost a nokia mobile phone. Try to make sure you perform the most important steps to make sure you recover a Lost or Stolen Mobile Phone.
Generally people dont care about any important mobile phone details like IMEI numbers or any other details of their handsets which is the reason once they lose their handsets they are in a stage where they cannot do anything about the theft. First of all you need to find the IMEI number of your mobile phone which can be easily done by dialing *#06# which once done shows you the Serial Number which is a 15 digit unique number for your mobile phone handset. You need to give this IMEI number to your mobile phone telecom service provider for tracking.
You can also go for mobile phone insurance because with the increasing about of handser thefts its better to pay a small amount of money towards insurance and stay tension free though you cannot recover the important data on your handset and its only possible to recover a new handset from the insurance company in case your handset is lost/stolen.

Also there are various software available like “Phone Guardian” which allow SMS service on SIM change. Thus you can keep your phone protected.
Amitji, I will like to know more about the mobile insurance. What are their premium rates and also their depreciation rate (if my mobile is lost after 1 Year, will they pay 100% or just 40% – taking the depreciation rates from Income Tax Act).

I was in Delhi 4 days back. On 08/09/2008, While I was going to Kingsway Camp Chawraha from Parmanand Chawraha on foot talking with somebody on my mobile, 2 guys on Pulsar bike came from behind and snatched my mobile and rode away, it also caused minor injury to my left ear, barely sparing my left eye. one of my friend is also have the same experience that what u said in above but i 1st call the service provider to deactivate the connection and i file the complaint in police station near to my house and i gave the IMEI no also and the inspector accept the complaint and he direct that to cyber crime department and the inspector promised me to recover my frnds mobile at the earliest ok if possible for you people also please do this ok.

Tracking and blocking a stolen mobile handset is not available to everybody in India. BSNL has made it clear that they extend such services only under special conditions like cracking down a criminal case, or terror cases. Same with other mobile telecommunication service providers.
However, tracking/blocking can no longer be done if the SIM is changed before the IMEI is posted to the service provider. Also, the phone can be tracked/blocked irrespective of SIM only if all the service providers share the IMEI number when it is reported.

Well i can tell u the ways to get the IMEI no. but u have to pursue to get it back. Well you can get it by many ways first of all, check it with your mobile bill they always mention IMEI no. If you don’t have bill then i hope u must have kept the box in which ur phone was packed when u bought on side of that box u will find a tag which states the complete 15 digit IMEI no. If u don’t have that then 2nd last option is u can go to the place where u bought the phone, If from show room they save th data with them, u can get it there. Last but not the least call ur service opertor and ask them to give u ur IMEI no. they will deny and give idiotic answers but be ferm in ur decision and don’t hangup untill they give it. Go to ur local Police station get an FIR done and with in 15 days followup with them. They usually don’t work on it, if they don’t response go to ur regional DCP office in visitors hours usually 11 to 2. They all have the software (Mobile equipment identity software) to trace but they don’t ask the DCP why is it so difficult to trace the phone when they have the technology. So have to work hard to trace it. And call ur service operator to blacklist the phone if u don’t get any hope and don’t want anyone to use it.

Lost phones can not be recorvered back as IMEI number does’not has any importance. It can be changed very easily using some softwares. Even ATMT (Antitheft mobile tracker ) is also formatted using such softwares.
