Google has launched Apps Status Dashboard which allows users to see if there is any issues with their services. This helps them in not getting panicked and start blaming the ISP or their company. There are 3 types of infomation available for the issues named under – Service disruption, Service outage and Information available.
The status update covers services of Google Mail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, Google Docs List, Google Documents, Google Spreadsheets, Google Presentations, Google Sites, Google Video for business and Admin control panel. Though its confusing why there is a public update status report for the Admin control panel because i dont really find any use of it.
These reports are useful because recently when there were reports of gmail in trouble there was a huge panic and most gmail users were effected with this problem. Because of the excellent services of Gmail with numerous add-on’s even big business are using it and when these kind of problems come up they are effected heavily. Google had blogged about this problem and updated with the downtime and users affected information.
If you were affected with this and would like to stay away from these kind of problems the best solution would be to activate the gmail offline with google gears, which allows you to access your emails offline whenever there is no internet connectivity, with a limitation of not able to send/recieve any emails.
