I have purchased a new hp mini 1001 laptop and since i always had a habit of using a mouse on my PC, iam still not habituated to this touchpad which is available on my new laptop. when ever i type something on the laptop’s keyboard, my hands touch the touchpad and it makes the cursor move here and there which really is not a good feature and i think there should be a option to disable this touchpad unless i really want to use it. Question by a blog reader.
Congrats on buying a new laptop which is originally a Netbook since the hp mini laptops are generally under 10″ of size they have very small screen area as well as keypad and Touchpad area. In order to disable this you need to play with some of your systems settings and memorize the changes because if you want to enable it again you can do it easily. The settings of disabling this depends from Laptop model to model and the drivers installed, though the system is mostly same in all you need to find the correct option though.
Click on Start > Control Panel > Mouse : This will open a settings section for Mouse & TrackPad Properties which should help you in setting it up. In this under the Tapping section you need to Uncheck the option of ‘Tapping’ to make sure that the Touchpad is totally deactivated. As mentioned earlier different models have different options, you can even disable the tapping options while you are typing on your keyboard in order to make sure that cursor does not move by mistake. Other options include the speed of tapping and Drag Lock.
A good way. I usually use an external mouse with my laptop and the touchpad often gets touched when I type on the laptop keyboard, so disabling the best option.
