Access & Download Apps from Microsoft Marketplace in any Country like India

December 7, 2010 by Amit Bhawani

Question : The Microsoft Marketplace will be available only in a limited number of countries list like Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, UK and United States, but its still launching the same only in a few countries and others are all scheduled for 2011. Now the main problem is that the Windows 7 Phone buyers who have purchased these handsets cannot get access to the Marketplace in order to download or try the different apps.

Solution : In order to access the Store you need to perform two different steps. First you need to change your computers region to any of the country where the Marketplace is currently available like United States. For this click on the Start > Control Panel > Region & Language > Location > Current Location.

Windows Region Languages

  1. When you sign in to Zune you need to make sure that your country on your PC is set properly and your account is created for the right country.
  2. To change your country, search for “change the country or region setting at http://support.microsoft.com/.
  3. If your Zune account doesn’t match the country that your computer is set to, you’ll need to create a new account.

Next run the Zune Application and connect the Windows Phone to your computer. You would be shown with the following Home screen.

Zune Application Home

Following this you would be asked to login to your Windows Live Account which could be the live.com or hotmail.com based account to get access to Zune Account.

Login Windows Live ID Zune

Next under your Live Account you need to change your location to US and then you will get access to the MarketPlace directly on Zune and also on your device.

Account/Location Mismatch — C00D1353 : Typically, this error occurs for one of the following reasons:

  • You’re trying to sign in to the Zune software in countries or regions where the Zune service is unavailable; or
  • The computer that you’re trying to sign in on is in a different Windows region than where your account is based.

Change Windows Live Country

Next click on the Change Option next to Country/region: India and set this to US.

Thanks for this information. Can you also share how to change your default id on the Windows Phone. I’ve changed the location on my computer, and created a new live.com id with US as the home country.

I’m not able to change the Windows Live id on the phone and when I connect the phone to the computer to connect to Zune, it gives an error saying that the id’s do not match. I’ve tried creating a new Windows Live account on the phone, but it still uses the previous id as the default.

Any help would be great as the marketplace is a huge tool to make the Windows Phone 7 useful.

    Thanks in advance.

I guess the current option available is to reset the phone through the settings. Which Windows Phone 7 handset do you have?

    Hi,

Wanted to check how to purchase apps. Once you set your location as US, it requires you to use a US credit card…

    Thanks.
