Acer is quite an old name in the world of digital electronics and it has earned itself quite a good name. And now it’s into the mobile business. Acer has brought a new member in the Acer family – the Acer Liquid. Acer has introduced the Android OS in the Liquid and its really good news for the gizmo freaks. Apart from this, there are several other multimedia functions in the phone to care of your entertainment as well as your official needs.
The liquid runs on the latest Android 2.1 Éclair with social networking Integration. The Liquid features the Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon processor with a speed of 768 Mhz. speaking of its looks, the Liquid boasts of a solid and elegant monolithic body measuring about 115 x 62.5 x 12.5 mm and weighs only about 135 gm thus making it a pocket friendly console. The connectivity of the Liquid is defined by Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, mini USB, and WiFi 802.11b/g.
The 5 mega pixel auto focus camera enables you to capture your favourite moments and it even allows VGA video recording up to a speed of 20 fps. The display of the Liquid is defined by a 3.5 inch captive touch screen, provided with accelerometer and proximity sensors.
The Liquid is available in the market in two versions, the Liquid and the Liquid e. the only difference between these two models is that the former uses the Android OS 1.6 Donut while the latter uses the 2.1 Éclair. Some of the new features of the 2.1 éclair may be summarized as below :
- Up to 5 home screens can be customized instead of one, which means that it will provide as many applications that can populate each of the home screens. In other words, ita virtually 5 handsets in one.
- The Quick Contacts lets you easily switch between the SNS apps and the address book.
- An all new keyboard layout with an extended and better dictionary to predict your texts more accurately.
- Live wallpapers to customize the look of your home screen.
- Updated HTML5 Android web browser that allows you to do double-tap zooming, geo location API support and video tagging from its A-GPS receiver.
Both the models are available in three body colours of red, White and Black and the console have been priced quite reasonably when it is compared to the features that it provided and with the other smart phones available in the market.

Pretty good specifications, with the 5MP camera and multiple connectivity options, but do you have any info on what differences this version of Acer Liquid and the Ferrari version have?
The capacitive touchscreen looks good with the 3.5-inch size. But with Acer experimenting with the Android, is the device a worth trying one?
