Once you have setup your campaign and ensured that its running, you need to check out if the advertisements are actually being shown on the Google search results pages, and for this you need to perform Google searches and surf through a few pages. Normally once you have setup the campaign, the different ads you have added in the campaign are both automatically & manually verified by the Google Adwords team and once approved the system would start displaying your ads.
You need to use the Ad Preview Tool to check if your ads are up. Just type the keyword from your account in the tool and it will display the ads along with your own ad. While the both options serve the same job, but its recommended to opt for Ad Preview Tool because the Impressions wont counted in this case, while the Google search results pages views would be counted as impressions and no clicks, overall decreasing the performance of your ad campaign.
The tool offers you with different options like Keywords, Google Domain which is useful if you are going for Local Ad Targeting, Location Country, State etc where in you are going to display the ads. Once you click on the ‘Preview Ads’ button, the results would be shown on the lower frame with a watermark of Preview. You can verify and checkup your advertisements any number of times using this tool.
In case if you don’t find your ads using this tool, you should check out the Ads Diagnostic Tool, using which you can find all the reasons based on the ad’s behavior. Instead of filling the long list of options you can also input the Google search results page URL in the box and get information about the same. Here are few reasons for why there won’t be any ads displayed.
- Is experiencing a server delay.
- Has just been added to your campaign. You may experience a short wait as your keyword goes through the review process.
- Was deleted from your account.
- Is rarely searched by users. (Your ad will begin showing for this keyword once users start including it in search queries. You don’t need to do anything.)
You should also check out your Campaign Pages regularly because there are chances some of your ads would have got rejected, hence the display of ads would have been stopped and you would be waiting for the visitors without getting informed about this. If your Google Adwords account is on Postpay billing, then make sure that you have updated the Credit Card details because if the payment is not made on time, the campaigns would also get stopped.
