Airtel Wireless Internet Data Card Details

October 6, 2008 by Amit Bhawani

Airtel has always been into the competition with different telecom service providers and this the reason they are offering Data Cards for wireless internet services using GPRS enabled cards with sending/recieving SMS facility.

Airtel Data Card Wireless InternetNot only that these Data Cards are compatible with Windows 2000/XP/XP Tablet/XP Pro but also with Mac Operating systems like Mac OSX, Leopard & Tiger, unlike Reliance Data Cards which are officially not compatible with the Mac based operating systems and the users have to go for different tricks and setup options to get wireless internet on mac based systems.

In order to use this Data Card you need a laptop with PCMCIA slot which generally is available in most laptop brands , though iam unable to find it in my sony vaio laptop, may be this slot is not available in all the laptop models.

    whats the actual speed will i get with this EDGE powered Airtel DATA CAR?D

  14. Saadat says

    January 30, 2009 at 9:52 am

    BSNL is the best. They give u an unlimited connection for 550 rs. and the speed is 1mbps but never lower than 500 kbps. its works on 3g network. And if u want to activate roaming, u can. I suggest BSNL E-VDO. Dont confuse it for BSNL NIC which provides a speed of 144 kbps.

    regards

  16. Saadat says

    January 31, 2009 at 2:24 pm

    its only 1 mbps provided u r nearer to the tower… but it can never be lower than 500 kbps….the usb modem would cost around 4000 and monthly rental will be rs 550.

    Hi all,
    Nice to be here. Actually I want to know which internet connection will be good. BSNL or Airtel or Reliance. Most say its BSNL, but I m waiting for the last one week to get BSNL connection, after paying the advance amt. When will i get? What is the bill amt for 256 kbps speed? Will they ask rental amt for the telephone and the modem? I want the minimum and maximum bill amt. And when will i get the connection?

    Poongodi Dhanabalan.

      @soumya,
      hello soumya..i’m from tamil nadu …i also same as wt u use….i use over 6 months over.its same speed for me also…its very benifit for fully internet user because the cost is better to compare to other planes and other networks..you used anywhere in india ..its free roaming also but one drawhacks is the network strength available some locations only as good…..but if u have netstrength signal means use all places….

    hi everyone !

    i’m thinking of getting bsnl evdo card for internet. the websites say that the speed will vary with your distance from the cmda evdo tower. the connection promises upto 2.4 mbps speed. i want to know about how much maximum download speed will i get if my house is near saidapet in chennai. and is it comparitively superior to other internet connections ?
