Apple iPad 3G comes with a MicroSIM which would be used to connect to the Internet while you are on travel with the charges being charged to your PostPaid or Prepaid sim card issued by the telecom service provider. In India there are no MicroSIM available and all the SIM Cards which are available are of the standard sizes, hence you need to make sure that the SIM should be tweaked a bit with the idea given by john, as shown below. This trick should be implemented carefully because you are going to cut the SIM card along the sides and this may even damage the magnetic ship and make it unusable. Hence, try it out on a SIM card which has almost no balance so that, if its not recognized we can just throw it away.
That’s it with a real cutting of the SIM card you can actually convert it to work in your Apple iPad. Most of you would who bought a iPad can now jailbreak it first and then change the service provider to use it with any of your network provider.
Hmmmmmm….
None loves Apple iPad
It really sucks!
I don’t love it!
ok, how about the gsm network ? Perhaps, it needs to be sim-unlocked ?!
You have used an existing microsim to size it and cut. Will you be able post an exact sized image or the microsim that you used to compare or will you be able to let us know the size in millimeters?
Thanks,
Guys, there is a way to use microSIM card in every mobile phone, and not only in the Iphone 4 or Ipad! I heard there is a thing called micro sim adapter. Basically, you put your microSIM card inside it and use it in any phone. They say it costs 4.5 EUR. They also seem to offer the sticker guide to cut the regular simcard into the microsim. IMHO their price and quality is the best so far.
But what we need is not microSIM adapter in India. No mobile operator supplied microSIM here. We need SIM adapter 🙂 to use it in iPAD.
But the sticker guide should be useful.
OK. I found a product http://www.cutmysim.com/ , not sure how reliable it is to trim your sim.
