Apple iPhone Vs HTC Diamond Touch Vs Nokia N96

August 23, 2008 by Amit Bhawani 39 Comments

It’s time to compare and analyze three great phones available in the market today. Let’s get it started with the Apple iPhone.

Apple iPhone – This was the most awaited phone in the Indian market. It is now here, but not before it became famous throughout the rest of the world. Renowned for its chic design and easy-to-use functions the iPhone has tremendous features such as its wide and clear screen, iPod, internet capability with classic web browser, GPS mapping, and last but not lease, a phone.

iPhone is being offered in the USA for the price of $199, so the awaiting buyers in India expected the same price. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. To grab hold of this hot item, you will have to shell out Rs.31,000 for the 8GB and Rs. 36,100 for the 16GB. If you’re wanting to pick up more than one, you may consider flying overseas to make your purchase. Even with airfare included, you may just save a few rupees!

So, dangling a hefty price tag of Rs.31, 000 or thereabouts, the iPhone will be a ‘missed call’ for most!

HTC Diamond Touch – This is the most talked about phone among the corporate and business people of India. Loaded with tons of great features, it is one of the slimmest phones in the touch category. It boasts of the most famous business platform out there Windows Mobile. This slim trim companion comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, it weighs a mere 110 g (with the battery), it is GPS enabled, has a 2.8-inch touch screen, 4GB internal usage, and will even tell you the weather reports with HTC Weather. No, an umbrella is not included. So if you are not mobile savvy but care about the Windows Mobile Platform and the business related apps then go for HTC Diamond Touch. This one truly is a diamond in the rough!

NOKIA N96 – Finally its time to talk about one of the most famous brands on the planet, Nokia. Nokia N96 is great improvement on the already excellent N95. People are no longer calling it a mobile but rather, a new multimedia computer as it has virtually everything a computer should have.

Easily accessing internet videos is a highlight of this sophisticated phone. In select markets, the integrated DVB-H receiver offers live broadcast TV with an automatically updating program guide. It also boasts of a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth wireless technology, WLAN, and a DVB-H Receiver.

So wait no more technology hounds — get your N96 today!

Below is the chart of the comparisons of the three phones.

hey thats a nice comapsrison u have done here in the table format…

apple dosent seem really high on features and considering the current price dont think so that its really value for money…

HTC is a great business phone and could go for it if i want an enterprsie phone..

but i m more of a features and entertainment kind of person and have heard that N96 is really high on that bit with 100s of hindi and english songs and Om shanti om preloaded and an awesome camera… so for me thats the phone…

Thanks Amit for the comparision, i dont want to sound repetitive but i was sincerely looking for comparision between N96 and the HTC diamond, i know that iphone 3G is not so great on features. I think i’ll go for N96, i am a nokia user already and besides i enjoy multimedia, but i think when it comes to looks HRC diamond is a winner over the N96.

Diamond Touch has a single 3.2 MP camera. No Secondary camera, the Touch Cruise has a secondary camera.

The Diamond Touch is available with Airtel lock. However a few retailers with support from HTC are giving legit unlocked ones for a 1000 extra.

N96 is great, rather high on features, but still no Touch. Its time Nokia wakes up to the call and comes out with touch fones, than overload their existing models.

I would not recommend buying iPhone 3G model from US. However, i stopped following and not sure if the 3G can be activated, but i think its not possible yet. So maybe someone who has broken the carrier lock can reply.

Probably all 3 are having different segments of market to focus, so it depends where the buyer falls out of the following 3 options,
    1) Apple iPhone
if you are a gizmo lover then this is probably best suitable to you.
There are lots of gizmos available in iPhone which are at times great to play and to impress the others however I do not see a great value addition in the phone it self apart from that!

    2) Nokia N96
If you are looking to use your phone a little more than your mobility assistant then this is a perfect choice.
It really adds value in your daily life along with a phone.

    3) HTC Diamond
If you are a business man who is always on run and needs to keep his office with him for all the time then probably this is for you.
If you are a developer (although not working on Windows Mobile Platform) then also you should go for this one as you never know when you need to look for newer opportunities.

Hope this comment adds value in this excellent comparison of features!

Can we use reliance wireless broadband plus through this HTC phone as this phone is with EV-DO or are we forced to use and buy the usb device with separate sim it?
