Finally the Internet Majors are getting into the Television business which is seriously going to give the normal TV sellers a trouble because of the pricing and the Internet related features. Lets have a quick recap on the features each of these two products are going to offer.
- Apple TV was launched on 1st Sep 2010 while the Google TV is yet to be launched in the market. There are news that Google TV is going to come up with Logitech & Sony hardware, while Apple always uses their own custom configured hardwares.
- The Apple TV is priced at USD 99 ie around Rs 4,500 while the Google TV Pricing is not yet announced though there are speculations that its going to cost around USD 150.
- Apple TV is a very small box of hardware which can be connected to your normal Television Set and through your High Speed Internet Connection you could be able to stream shows and movies directly to your TV and watch them. Google TV will on the other hand allow their users to search the Internet and view programs which are available on the net like Youtube.com. The latest Sony TV’s and Logitech TV’s will come with the Google TV installed.
- The Apple TV is connected with the iTunes software which would allow the TV to be controlled through your iPods, iPhones & iPads in order to download a App from the AppStore and use it. Google TV is going to be supported with the Android Market following which users can access all the Apps and whatever videos, photos, music and games are online.

- The Apple TV would be available from September if pre-ordered while the Google TV has no launch date, hence no dates available for the availability too.
- The TV shows which are available at iTunes would cost a minimum of 99cents to $4.99 for movies while all the content on the Google service would be free of cost as its the Online Content.
- Apple has partnered with Netflix Inc, News Corp and Walt Disney Co for the TV service while Google has partnered with Sony Corp, Logitech International SA, Intel Corp and DISH Network Corp.
- Apple had earlier launched the TV in 2006 which actually was a big fail because of high pricing and lower features while the Google TV is going to be launched for the very first time.
