Windows Operating System offers a print screen button which is useful for taking screenshots, but in case of Apple Macbook based laptops you will keep searching for this ‘Print Screen’ button which would help you in taking screenshots of a selected portion of your screen or complete desktop screenshot. If you take a screenshot in the windows operating system you need to paste the screenshot in any photo/image editing software and save the images to your local hard disk drive.
In case of MacOSX & Leopard you wont need a image editing software to paste/save the images because Macbook’s come with all the features preinstalled and you just need to click in some keyboard shortcuts and capture a screenshot of any selected portion or complete desktop and get the image directly saved on the desktop.
Keyboard Shortcuts :
Apple (Command) Key +Shift+3 : Allows you to take a screenshot of your complete Desktop and save the image file as a ‘Picture #’ file name on your Mac Desktop, which you can later edit it if required using a image editing software.
Apple (Command) Key +Shift+4 : Allows you to take a screenshot of a selected area of your desktop, you will be given with a mouse pointer using which you can select a limited area on your desktop and get the file saved on your desktop with the file name ‘Picture #’
Apple (Command) Key +Shift+5 : Offers you with a option using which you can take a screenshot of any single application running on your laptop. This keyword combination would allow you to select a window to capture the screenshot.
