These days the chinese domain name registrars seem to be totally jobless or may be in low profits which is the reason they have started sending email scams which looks almost legit and many domain owners would end up paying these online frauds. In the latest series we received a email from a company called drc-nic.org with the following registration details. Read this article on how to find a website owner details.

The email was having the following information in it.

We are the department of registration service in China. we have something which needs to confirm with you. We formally received an application on Nov. 22th 2010. One company called “Riccione Brands, Inc. ” is applying to register ” amitbhawani ” as Brand name and domain names as below:amitbhawani.asia

amitbhawani.twAfter our initial checking, we found the Brand name and domain names being applied are as same as your company! So we need confirmation with your company. If you don’t have any relationship with this company, please contact us within 5 workdays. If over the deadline, we will approve the application submitted by “Riccione Brands, Inc. ” unconditionally.

Overall it seems like these guys would search for the contact email of the domain name owner and then send them a email like the above one following which many people normally find it legit and in a fear that their brand name would be registered by others, they normally opt for paying the charges whatever these scammers ask. This job is quite similar to Domain Trade LLC where in people were asked to signup for domain name appraisal service.
The final suggestion would be that next time you get a email from these kind of domain registration companies which suggest you to book the names, just delete the emails and you are safe from these frauds.
I too got the same mail from them saying your main is domain niftylivecharts.com and your can register the other domains in china otherwise they will be registered by some one else. I simply ignore those mails as now a day its very easy for any one to pick the who is data from the alexa and send these automated mails.

As the domain name registrar in China, it is our duty to notice you, so I am sending you this Email to check.According to the principle in China,your company is the owner of the trademark,In our auditing time we can keep the domain names safe for you firstly, but our audit period is limited, if you object the third party application these domain names and need to protect the brand in china and Asia by yourself, please let the responsible officer contact us as soon as possible. Thank you!

This is something totally dissimilar to the Nigerian bank spammers, but the way they have included things in the content of the mail, it would put many people in doubt and most would get scammed there. Thanks for the tip.
