If you want to access to your MS Office files which were created years back then you should think again because now all the MS Word applications save the file in a new format called as DOCX and this is the same reason if you edit or create a new MS Word file now you cannot access the same on your older versions of MS Office like Microsoft Office 2000, 97 & 2003. In order to access these newer versions of files you need to convert them to compatible versions using different options. Here is a small list of the same.

  • docx to doc
    docx to doc
Docx2doc.com – This is a nice utility which not only allows you to convert your Docx files but also allows you to convert them to different formats like –
    docx to doc
    docx to pdf
    docx to html
    docx to rtf
    docx to txt
    docx to odt
There is no need to download any software because this is a Online service where in you need to browser the DOCX file from your computer and convert it with the results directly shown on your browser or a option where you can save it as a file. This is a recommended service because its a online tools and its a free service for most file format conversions.
  • Docx Convertor – This is another online tool which can be helpful to your if you are looking to convert your latest Docx files into other file formats in order to access them anywhere. The best part is that this tool is also available as a desktop version and is totally free offering you to convert the file into more than 25 different formats.
  • Zamzar – The third option is somewhat different and this is because it not online allows you to convert the docx files but also multiple formats You can convert files in bulk format with upto 100Mb files conversion at once and then convert them to seriously a very big list. This is also a online tool, hence you need internet access to get this job done.
  • Microsoft does offer you with a option to open the Word 2007 ie Docx files in your previous versions of MS Word, and in this case there is no need to convert. You need to install a compatibility pack from Microsoft here and then this pack would ensure you that you can not only open the files but also edit and save them. If you are still using the MS Word applications then this is the recommended option because you dont need a Internet connection always to opt for Online tools and you dont have to reply on 3rd part applications.
