If you are running a web blog and are looking for User Generated content which means that setting up a Discussion board where the content is added by your members and you need not worry about the content part check out bbPress which is a excellent forum script which is decent enough for bloggers because you can easily integrate your wordpress based blog with this forum and make all your blog comments to be posted on the forum and keep all the discussions at one place.
I run a Help Desk using this script and found that its a excellent option to interact with your blog visitors and reply to their queries rather than replying to someone through email. You have all the basic required features and if you are looking for high number of features then you can upgrade to Vbulletin which is a paid script. I have created multiple categories within minutes using bbpress along with a description which you can check at the Help Desk itself.
You can find a number of bbPress plugins and themes which can match your wordpress blogs design and offer your visitors with a same design for both the sections. The backend of bbPress is quite similar to WordPress Dashboard where you have the options of activating/deactivating the plugins and themes. There are numerous plugins for setting up private messages, advanced profile pages, Support System Plugin, Social Bookmarking, Allow Images, Related Topics etc all of which would help you to run your forum easily and perfectly with the Spam in the board removed using Akismet.
Yesterday i installed the same bbPress script on Laptops Next which is a new domain i recently acquired through back Order system of Godaddy and have started developing it. One of the best feature i have liked in this script is the Tags Section which shows all the forum tags like a tags cloud with clear representation of the most discussed topics and the total tags. There are some Gzip compression plugins which make your forum run super fast and make sure that your visitors dont move away because of a slow running board.
You cannot install this script using Cpanel because its not listed under the Fantastico options like other discussion board scripts like phpbb, smf etc but you need to install it manually by uploading all the files of the installation through ftp and then install a new database on your web host and complete the installation. Check out bbPress today and iam sure your blog readers would love it!
