How to Delete Internet History in Internet Explorer?

June 2, 2008 by Amit Bhawani

My computer is running a bit slow for the last two weeks. I couldn’t understand the problem as I am not a technical person. One of my friends told me to delete the internet history to get back the speed, but I don’t have any idea about that process also. I tried by deleting selecting the URLs, but nothing happened. My friend also couldn’t tell me the process. Can you help me out in deleting the Internet history on my Internet Explorer?

Is the Process of Deleting Internet History easy?
You will not have to be technical person to be able to remove the Internet history on your Internet Explorer. You can even find it yourself, if you explore your IE Window for some time. The process that I will discuss will help you out in learning the process within a jiffy. So go through that process minutely and get rid of the stored URLS on your address bar.

How to Delete the History?
Go to Tools, and select Delete Browsing History.

Delete Browsing History

A new window will appear. Click on the Delete History, option.

Delete IE History

You will receive a message asking you whether you want to delete all your history, click yes and all your Internet History will be deleted.

This is a process where you will be able to delete all the stored history on your Internet Explorer together. But sometimes you need to delete the history for some different reason. You may also try to delete your Internet history to hide the websites you visit from your family members. If so, you can’t delete the entire history at it will make them understand that you are doing something wrong. I have also discussed the process of deleting selected URLs for you.

First start the Registry Editor (e.g. Regedit.exe). Before bringing changes to the registry, make it sure that it has a valid backup. Now write down the following key on the registry.

IE Registry Editor

Now delete the URLs which you want to hide from your family members. Then close the registry editor. The one thing I forgot to mention is, close the Internet Explorer Window, before starting the above process.

The process is short and easy, but you need to learn it properly before starting doing it. Once you will learn the process, deleting the Internet History will no more be a problem for you. You can teach your friends also.
