Norton Internet Security 2010 Review

December 17, 2009 by Amit Bhawani 6 Comments

Norton Internet Security 2010Norton Internet Security is a complete threat protection software which can help you to guard your computer, network, online activities and your identity from the daily updating different kind of attacks. Now you dont have to worry about your Online Transactions, Banking Transactions, Web Browsing because all of these pass through a very strong protection. In this article iam going to show you some features of this new Internet Security which is recommended to you because the free antivirus like avg wont be that secure.

First of all when you click on the Install button you will find a screen which will try to update the Internet Security Package, though its confusing because the package was just sent to me and even before installing it for the first time i didnt find any reason why 60MB files were downloaded. Check out the following screenshot which can give you a idea on how this would look like. Next once the downloads of the updates are done, you will find that the screen would ask you to Enter your Product Key which comes on the Product CD Cover.

The same about beautiful screens would then complete the whole installation process in around a minutes time and the PC is now secure after which the Services would start. I have always hated Norton mainly because of the high CPU Usage in the previous version but that seems to be one of the highest priority in the 2010 version where in you will be finding a small stats section which shows you the CPU Usage along with the Norton’s share on it in the form of graphs.

Once the installation is completed you will find that the browser is restarted and in my case the Firefox Browser, gets 2 new browser Add-on’s which are Norton IPS 2.0 & Norton Toolbar 4.0 which are useful for browser security and the websites we would access on our computer. You will have to complete the installation of this toolbar which comes under the Norton Identity Safe Setup.

The advantage of these toolbars and the add-on’s on your browser are that, it would verify all the websites you access and all the links you find on the Search Engine, on order to make sure that your PC does not access any harmful websites which could download malware to your PC. Overall the add-ons are great because they would offer you one of the best security and would not even add up much load on your browser.

Next once the PC is restarted, you will find that the Norton Application Suite would start with the most amazing stuff ie real low CPU Usage which would mean that even Netbook users and low RAM Laptop owners can also install the Norton Internet Security Application. The main screen shows you the Computer Report, Network Report, Web Report. You can just click on the small menu options and they would Enable/Disable the different individual services along with application ratings.

There are a total of three different Scan Modes in this Internet Security which are – Run Quick Scan, Run Full System Scan & Run Custom Scan. Based on your personal choice you can run scans or else schedule them on daily basis. The scans are pretty faster when compared to the previous version of Norton and the results also seems to be effective with the latest virus updated automatically added in the application.

The Market Price of this Pack of 1 year duration costs 2445Rs / 3 users and 59.90$ at Norton Symantec Store. This review was done after we received a licensed copy of 1 year Pack. Let us know which Internet Security or Antivirus Software do you use and why have you selected it?

There is no doubting that Norton is good, but I was put off using their products for life when I once tried to uninstall their software completely. They do not seem to respect the decision of their users who want to do this.

    1st Recommendation
No matter what annual version of Norton Internet Security you purchase, you will still have a subscription that expires one year from the date of installation. Norton permits you to download and install the latest annual version so long as your subscription has not expired. THEREFORE, buy the cheapest annual version you can find on internet (like NIS2007) because you will be able to update the software to the latest software version for free.
