Have you heard of Join.Me which is an online sharing application which basically promises to ease you from the trouble of booking the conference room, checking prior appointments or even the headache of sending invites every time before setting up a formal session with the people. Basically what it does is it shares the screen with everyone around and with almost any number of people and what’s the best part of this tool is that this can be used almost anywhere and anytime, all you need to have is a stable internet connection to serve you.
Currently there are two versions of this software tool, one which is free and another one which is a paid one. The free version allows screen sharing, chatting, file transfer and even remote pc access control whereas the paid version allows a whole lot of personalization’s such as meeting scheduler, user management, meeting lock and lot more apart from file transfers, screen sharing, chatting and also remote control which are also there in the free version. This tool is very useful when you need to collaborate, meet, train, and demonstrate remotely. So all in all you can meet the person in a e way without needing you to travel a distance to do all of the above.
Since security is handled by a 256 bit encryption, this tool is very safe for sharing all your important data and it doesn’t store any information. You will have to boot the Join.Me utility tool and need to give the sharer the pass code before they can view anything and also you can shut them out at any point of time, it just a two way conference. With the help of single click you can VoIP or even instantly message (IM) your collaborator, what’s more is that you can even give the access to your desktop via interactive control like “Share Control” feature, for making the changes the way you or your collaborator wants.
So before going and trying this you will have to pump up your computer with some essentials like Flash Player 10, Internet Explorer 7 or 8 or even Firefox 3.0 or higher or Chrome 5.0 or higher or even Safari 5.0 will do the trick. Most importantly you also need to have the Broadband connectivity for seamless conference, it supports a wide range of operating systems like Windows XP, Vista, 7 or even the Server editions like Server 2003, 2008 or even you can use Join.Me on the Mac OS X Leopard.
This application concept like LogMeIn or any new features available?
almost the same but bit more simpler!!
Thanks Speedy Neal for your post on join.me. As an FYI. join.me is powered by LogMeIn so you can enjoy all of the security and benefits of LogMeIn in this new product. A nice tool. Isn’t it something like what Google had launched with the name Wave? still, Wave has never been popular and much used.
