This is the 2nd chapter of our Google Adwords Tutorial series where in we are going to help you in setting up a new Adwords Account and how to activate the same. First of all you need to visit the following link, and click on the ‘Start Now’ button which is located around the top right section of the Adwords Homepage.
The first step would be ‘Create Google Account’ or else linking your already registered Gmail account.
Once you have logged into any of your existing Google Account or registered a new Account and linked it, you will be progressed to the next screen. Which will ask you to ‘Set time zone and currency preferences’. To set up your AdWords account, we need to know your time zone and currency (This is the currency you’ll use to pay Google, not the currency you use in transactions with your customers). Select a permanent time zone for your account. This will be the time zone for all your account reporting and billing. You need to make a note that the Time Zone & Currency cannot be changed once the account setup is complete, hence try to select your Local Currency for more accurate understanding of the advertising reports.
Next you will have to verify your new Adwords Account, which is automatically done while you have logged into your Google Account. You can directly login to your account right away and get access to the ‘Campaign Management’ page.
The final step would be ‘Submit billing information’ – For this you need to visit the Billing > Billing Preferences section. Here in you will be asked to Select the Country or territory where your billing address is located. Once you select this, different Payment Processor’s information is listed for both Prepaid Billing & Postpaid Billing. Make a note that payments made through Cheque or Demand Draft takes around 10-15 business days to be credited to your account and in the meantime your running advertisement campaigns may get paused. Once you have selected the Payment Mode, you will be asked to agree with the terms and conditions of the Program & then enter your complete Billing address.
Once the whole information is correctly setup, your account will be charged with a 5$ one-time activation fees which is non-refundable. This completes the chapter of Opening a New Google Adwords Account & Activating it. Our Next Chapter would be on Creating a Adwords Campaign.
Do I need a Credit Card to verify my account? or my online banking acc is enough?
If you go for Bank Account then you need to send payments in the form of DD or check whichever Adwords accepts to their address and once cleared the funds would be displayed in your account. This is not recommended normally because it needs lot of time and delay.
