In many cases the kids without knowledge even post their parents information, family stuff and other important information online which can be a very issue. Basically any technology cannot stop this kind of stuff from children getting access to Inappropriate Websites and also monitor their internet habits.

Most parents have trust on their children but if there are free options where they are given access to illegal material then its hard to stop them. They also get more tricky ways to access different content through their friends and its hard to directly stop them. Here are few ways which you can implement quickly.

Block inappropriate Content : You can use kids browsers or else make changes to your web browser if you have teens at home. You can use the Tools Tab > Options > Privacy Tab for blocking some websites which you feel would not be good and should not be allowed for your kids access. You can also search for some informative websites like wikipedia, discovery, cnn etc and keep their links on the bookmarks and let your children know about these in case they want to find some information online.

Teaching Information Sharing : Kids have no idea what to post on the internet and what no, hence need to decide and suggest then with all the stuff they can do and how to get started. You should teach them how to create a email account, what instant messengers are good, why chat rooms should be avoided, what to do and what not to do online and what personal details like name, email, address, contact numbers should be posted and what should be kept completely private. Based on this most children would keep note of all your suggestions would normally keep themselves private and you would fear about their privacy in future.

Track Internet Activity : There are many spying softwares which you can use to track down the PC usage remotely or in background in order to know what your children were accessing and what passwords they have kept using keycounter and other internet activity tracking softwares. Check their logs regularly and find out what websites were accessed by the kids and then block the sites which were illegal and also openly make them understand why its not the right time to visit these websites at this age.
