Samsung doesn’t want to limit the brand of Galaxy to the smartphones, just like the Apple rivals didn’t. Apple had copied the entire iPhone into their iPod touch, just by removing the SIM and calling option. Everything else was the same in the interface and the design too. Samsung now follows the trend by copying the entire Samsung Galaxy S, into their soon-to-be-launched Galaxy player which would be just an entertainment device with no calling options.
One of the best smartphones in the market Samsung Galaxy S, already promises enough hype for the coming galaxy player which is based on the Android operating system. And this is not too far, as the device would be showcased at the CES 2011 to be held next week. But the question is, with the iPod touch, the Zune, the Sony mp3 players around, would the Galaxy player stand strong?
The Galaxy player is 9.9mm thick, and would run on the Android 2.2 Froyo, having 1Ghz CPU, but the screen has got changes. It’s not the super-AMOLED display, but the Super Clear LCD screen but that’s still good enough. It’s got a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
Connectivity on the Galaxy player is good enough with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 but as said, there is no cellular connectivity. There is a 3.2MP rear camera with front facing camera for video calling, GPS, HD video playback, microSD card slot, Android Market and Samsung Apps access and a 1200mAh removable battery. The player would come in 8GB, 16GB, 32GB storage options, but there is no confirmation about the pricing yet.
With everything packed into the hands, can this be a good iPod competitor? well, should be at least for the Android fans!

Galaxy S is already one of the best devices, but still everything about the hype and the demand for Galaxy player would depend on the pricing of it. As the story was same with the iPhone and the iPod touch, mobile connectivity was the only difference. But iPod touch was kept at good low price, and hence the top sales.
Let’s hope Galaxy player comes with some good pricing in the end.
This is awesome news. Could be iPod’s true competitor. Really looking forward to Galaxy Player.
So nice phone…someone has tried it?
Thanks for this helpful post ….
An interesting product. I would consider it once Samsung improves it all around and lowers the price.
