How to Session Restore Pages in Firefox 4 Browser

April 7, 2011 by Amit Bhawani

Firefox LogoThe latest stable version of Firefox is the version 4.x which is claimed to be super fast and which comes packaged with so many features that no other browser can beat that. Following are few of the claimed features which are listed by the official firefox website

  • Browsing Made Easy
  • High Performance
  • Advanced Security
  • Powerful Personalization
  • The Cutting Edge
  • Universal Access

Recently after upgrading from 3.6 to the latest stable 4.x version when the browser restarted all my previously opened tabs just went away and the browser opened the default homepage. This was the most irritating feature of the new version of this browser. Even though i had installed Xmarks Firefox Sync services on the browser, still this unexpected issue came up.

The only available option was to way to restore the Pages which were lost with the new session. In order to perform this you need to type about:sessionrestore in your browser’s address bar which will open a message which says the following.

Restore Session Firefox

Well, this is embarrassing.
Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.

You can try:
Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem
Starting an entirely new browsing session

Firefox Session Restore Error

Next you need to click on ‘Restore’ button to open all those tabs which were closed or else click on the tabs which you do not want to start. You can also click on the ‘Start New Session’ button to proceed with a fresh session. Overall a very simple way to restore all your favorite tabs which you had lost in case the browser or the plugins fail to record the same.
