Set Automatically Login to Windows Xp on Startup

May 29, 2010 by Amit Bhawani

My Computer is a Single User account one, but still whenever i start my computer, it asks for entering the User Account password in order to get access into the windows. Is there any way i can bypass this login question and directly get access to my Desktop? Question by Kunal Sharma via Facebook.

Windows Xp Login Screen

This is a very simple option you need to configure in the Windows based computers because most Microsoft based Operating Systems have very simple options to adjust and set them up. You will have to make sure that you have a single account in order to get this into working. Also it depends from computer to computer because in many computers with single user, there are chances that the PC would directly boot and give you desktop access and sometimes would request you to enter the password or just click on the user account box to give access.

Run Control Userpasswords2

Normally when you press the Ctrl+Alt+Del keyboard button combinations you will find that windows would display you options to select the user account to logon to, while setting the auto login feature will automatically login to the preset account you authorize. In order to set this up you need to first note that this is not recommended because after this setup your PC would give direct access to anyone and this could mean less security and unauthorized access to all your important data.

User Accounts Windows xp

Click Start button and then click on the Run button. Next in the Open Box type ‘control userpasswords2’ , followed by pressing on Ok. This will open a new window called as ‘User Accounts’. Here you need to uncheck on the option which says ‘Users must enter a username and password to use this computer’. Once this is done, the computer will next time directly login to your default user account without the need of asking you to enter the password.

Press the Print Screen Button while the windows is still loading and later paste it to any of your Image Editors like Microsoft Paint and save it.
