The Government of India’s Income Tax department has introduced the SUVIDHA scheme during June2002. It is basically filing the salary returns by the employers in bulk for all of its employees. The Income tax department will process the returns submitted by suvidha scheme on a priority basis. An employer who has 50 employees in his payroll and whose salary income exceeds the limit of tax exemption for the assessment year is eligible to use this scheme to apply tax returns. He should also have applied and obtained tax deduction account number from the department concerned.

This scheme is applicable only to an employee who is eligible candidate for tax return. The criteria for eligibility is that the employee should be an individual residing in the country, whose is earning salary through that employer and assessed at any one of the city and who has already obtained an PAN (Permanent Account Number). A revised return can also be filed under this scheme if the original return was filed under the scheme and is pending. The main advantages of filing under this scheme are it is faster issue of refunds, assured service and no interface with the department at the time of filing the returns.
Not eligible candidates are the once who have applied for PAN card but not been allocated one, nonresident Indian, employees assessed in other city not specified under the scheme and former employee of a eligible employer.

The returns which cannot be filed under the scheme are, returns of income done before the assessment year 2002-2003, returns where there is no PAN or incorrect PAN number has been quoted, return of employee having more than one employer and returns of an employee who is not a recipient of salary from the eligible employer.

File My ReturnsThere many companies which help corporate to use the Suvidha Scheme, one such company is File My Returns. You can visit their website at http://www.filemyreturns.com . This company also says it has the letter of appreciation from the Income Tax Department of India. What they are saying if any company is interested in the bulk Scheme they will come and demonstrate how to use their software to file the tax returns of all the eligible employees and their team will be available to tackle any problems or queries.
