Best Unlimited 3G Plans in India – Bsnl vs Tata Docomo vs MTNL

November 30, 2010 by Amit Bhawani

The whole of India is running behind the new 3G services which are being offered from the past few months by a few companies. The major players in this offerings are by Bsnl, MTNL and Tata Docomo which have started offering different range of tariff plans based on the customer requirements and usage. Tata Docomo was the first private player in the market which ran a campaign of ‘3G Life’ for a few weeks offering free 3G internet to their customers for a few days. These connections are useful to access the internet through internet enabled mobile phones and also the same internet connection can be tethered to your computer using a Unlocked USB modem.

3G Services India

Normally these 3G internet connections are offered by the Smart Phone users who would access high speed internet on their device and stay in touch with their contacts. Along with this with the video calling facility like Facetime and voice calling its important that the cellular network should be providing you with higher speeds. Hence the 3G internet was always most awaited in India because it just does not mean higher speed but also means revolution following which all around the world there would be more business transactions and more networking.

In India the major service providers are Bsnl which launched first along with MTNL and then followed by Tata Docomo which was the first private player. Each of them have a different kind of service and plan available and these are available as per the customer requirements.

Bsnl is the leader in the current market with the prices on their packages going down every few days with the offering of packages and plans increasing at the same which suits everyone’s requirements. In this article we are going to discuss about the unlimited download service providers in which case the BSNL leads onto the top because of the lowest plans available and the highest connectivity all over India.

BSNL 3G Unlimited Plans
The Bsnl Unlimited Plans are available in three different options which is based on the amount of time you would like to prepay for the same.

Plan – Price
60 days unlimited – Rs. 2,000
90 days unlimited – Rs. 2,500
180 days unlimited – Rs. 4,200

The above plans clearly show that the average monthly cost is around Rs 700 for a unlimited data download option and there are no other FUP issues.

MTNL Unlimited Plans
Mtnl charges in a very different way when compared to others and in this case it charges you upto Rs 1800 per month for unlimited plan. While the services are limited to a few metro cities only, the options are still costlier when compared to BSNL.

Tata Docomo 3G Unlimited Plans
Tata Docomo being the first private player in India, has actually started off with a initial free internet offer limited to the first 7days. Following this the plans available start at Rs 750 per month for the 3.6Mbps Plan along with which you get upto Rs 1250 worth of voice calls. This looks a good option but for users who get this new SIM for the sake of high speed internet these free voice or video calls is useless. The main reason behind this is that normally the voice calls are already under Per Second Billing which means that you obviously are already getting calls for cheap hence there is no point paying high for the sake of huge free calls package.

      Not true.

I bought 3G Data Card from Chennai circle, they charged me roaming for delhi even through I had 10G plan, and not consumed data though.

I was 20days in Delhi, and my original usage in BSNL circle is less then 2G, and in Delhi 1G, and they charged me 1G. And also their calculation in counting 1G data charge is wrong for roaming.

Still I’m struggling to take back those money.

MTNL Should adopt the 4200 for 6 months unlimited plan or otherwise they will lag behind in no. of customers using their 3g plans. If they do so One can see the jump in their 3g users which will ultimately benefit their net profit.
