JailBreak & Unlock iPhone 3.0 OS Success Tutorial

First of all you need to connect your Apple iPhone to your Computer and run iTunes software which will detect that your iPhone is currently running a older version of Operating System and there is a update available. You will be asked to download the latest version’s software or download and install. I would recommend you to click on – Download & Install followed by which the iTunes will start downloading the whole Software which is of 229.3Mb size.

Upgradation Process 2.2.1 to 3.0 :
Once the iPhone Software Update file of 229.3Mb is downloaded you will find that the following options being shown up on your iTunes. The Updating iPhone Software will take around 3-5 minutes in total and the Latest Operating System will be installed. You will find that your iPhone is now ready but locked since we are going to Unlock it to use with a GSM Connection. During the Updating process the handset would restart a few times and you need not worry about this because this is a routine job and in this process its going to verify the total installation at the end to ensure that the whole process was perfectly completed.

Thats it, the process of updating the Firmwire OS of Apple iPhone is completed and now we need to Unlock it to use with any mobile SIM Card.

Unlock Apple iPhone 3.0 using Redsn0w :
You need to download the redsn0w multi-device jailbreaking and unlocking tool for iPhone 2G & 3G from this link

Once the Installation is started you will be shown with the following two options –
Install Cydia – Check Yes
Install Icy – Not Needed
Unlock – Yes

Then switch off your iPhone and make sure its plugged into your computer to continue the Unlocking & Jailbreaking process to enter the DFU Mode. Next it will show the following options which you need to perform.

Following this the second stage would begin after a reboot. Next you will find the following options shown on your screen as shown in the below screenshots.

RedSn0W Installation Setup

During this option you need to Browse the IPSW file from your computer and wait for a minute for the Redsn0w Application to recognize.

Redsn0w BootLoaders Install

3.9 & 4.6 Baseband bootloaders can be found easily, which you can download here. Select those files using the browse option and click on Next.

Redsn0w DFU Mode Setup

In order to complete this step you need to first Switch Off your handset and then follow the instructions like pressing the power button for 3 seconds, then tapping both the home & power key for 10 seconds followed by leaving the power key for 10 seconds and then the DFU mode is entered.

Redsn0w Unloading Second Stage

This Unloading Second Stage would take around 2-3 minutes with 3 restarts following which the Jailbreaking process would start.

Redsn0w Uploading Ram Disk

Redsn0w Uploading Kernel

The same above process of Uploading Kernel. Next the Unloading Ram Disk process starts and you will find this to take a minutes time following with the files uploading to the iPhone and a final reboot after which the Redsn0w applications job is completed.

Restore iPhone Backup Data

Finally you need to launch the iTunes application and there you will find a option to Restore your iPhone’s content from the last backup. Dont worry it wont restore your iPhone’s OS. Thats it based on the size of your backup it will take few minutes to restore and now you have a perfectly working Apple iPhone with OS 3.0

    I’m using apple iphone with 1.1.4 (4a102) unlocked with Ziphone3.0.
    Now I want to upgrade my phone with software version 3.0 & I’m not having wi-fi area. Can you suggest me the safe & easy way to upgrade and unlock my iphone with windows xp. Thank you in advance.

    I am having an iphone 3g 2.2.1(5H11) and i want to upgrade it to new 3.0.1 version and then to jailbreak and unlock it. I know the process but the matter of concern is that my iphone came with a chip which is to be attached along with the sim..is that really required for unlocking and will it work after updating to the new version?? plzz help

    Hi,

    I have updated my iphone with new iphone 3.0 os few days ago & unlock it using redsn0w.Till than I’m facing problem like when someone call me they hear the message my phone is switch off, even I tried it keeping my iphone switch on in my hand & tried calling my number from another phone but the result was same (showing switch off). I’m tried hard to get rid from this problem but could not get desired result.

    Can you help me in this matter? I will really be thankful to you if you can.
