Often new laptop buyers get confused on which laptop to buy because india is still behind countries like united states in terms of laptop users and this is the only reason many people in india have no information on which laptop to decide and what are the advantages of buying one.First of all let me introduce you guys with some laptops available in India.
1. Sony Vaio - My favourite laptops since i own 2 Sony vaio CR and they just rock because of the performance, neat designs , light weight and best of all the other laptops in my opinion. The design part of sony laptops are the design which are very neat though apple macbook gets number #1 rank in terms of looks. The pricing part is very important in case of sony vaio laptops because if you are looking for the basic models they start around 1500USD (or) 55000 Indian Rupees and the latest vaio series come with inbuilt webcam and a fingerprint scanner below the cursor keys which are the latest technology.
2. Dell XPS - Dell used to be a market leader in all their products series long back but now its position has been taken by many other laptop manufacturers, and Dell has recently launched a new model - The XPS 1730 which is a powerful notebook with Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz) / T7500 (2.2GHz) / T7700 (2.4GHz) / X7800 (2.6GHz) processor and is the first laptop to have intel’s latest Core 2 extreme x 7800 mobile processor.
3. HP Laptops - HP Pavillion laptops were the products HP started manufacturing with the latest models being HP Pavilion dv2600 series Entertainment Notebook PC, HP Pavilion dv2000 series Entertainment Notebook PC, HP Pavilion dv6000 series Entertainment Notebook PC and HP Pavilion tx1000 Entertainment Notebook PC. With the screen size ranging from 12.1″ to 15.4″ HP offers a stylish design, high-definition viewing and wide-screen twist and turn touch-screen. Current offers from HP include a Hauppage TV Tuner with HP Pavilion/Compaq Presario Notebook PCs worth 5000 INR.
4. Acer Laptops - Acer laptops have launched many series some of which include the Aspire 4920 Series, Ferrari 1000 Series, Extensa 5210 Series, Aspire 5573 Series, TravelMate 6292 Series, Aspire 5583 Series, Aspire 3680 Series, TravelMate 4233 Series and TravelMate 3275 Series. This laptop manufacturer company is currently advertising very heavily in the upcoming laptop industry in india because the laptop buyers are increasing in india rather than the desktop computers. Acer laptops pricing comes at a lower end with a starting price of around 30000 Indian rupees which is the normal pricing for a standard desktop computer.
5. Apple Macbook - Macbook Pro - Apple has started selling laptops in india with a very limited number of stores all over india, and i own a Apple Mac book which i bought from a apple store in banglore and overall i had a bad experiance because i bought the laptop for my brother and he wanted to use it at his
college on a wireless data card usb connection and the macbook is not able to connect to the reliance data card USB connection because of some driver problems, and this is the problem with any wireless internet connection. This macbook can only be used on a broadband connection with the inbuilt wifi port. The macbook series are one of the best if you can sort out this wireless internet connection problems because of the superb quality inbuilt camera, mac os operating system which can be upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard though i have a dual boot system of Mac OS with windows xp professional. The pricing of Macbook’s start at 65000Rs in india and include a 1 year warranty.
What is your current laptop/notebook and which one would you suggest to all your friends and students who want to buy one?

I would definitely prefer the Sony Vaio CR series. I just got one couple of days back. It’s a red biatch!
I did posta review on it on my blog.
If i had to buy other laptop, it will have to Apple MacBook PRO. It’s not their in your list.
November 8th, 2007 at 4:58 am
Sharat MacbookPro would come under the same list as macbook because it comes from the same manufacturer and offers just some extra features than the macbook.

November 8th, 2007 at 5:43 am
I love my toshiba laptop. Although for me Dell, Sony and Apple can be good choice.
I think smatest of all are Apple as they charge huge amount fo eaten apple “see their logo” and people are buying it STILL!!!!
November 8th, 2007 at 6:57 am
Apple is by far the best, it does not have a good driver for reliance data card, now thats not a problem with the machine. Maybe you could have tried with Airtel data card. About Toshiba, im not surprised its not in your list. Toshiba is a good looker but not a great performer, my machine and another friends has an overheating problem. I have a sattelite M40. Sometimes when its on charger and power goes on and off, the notebook just freezes. You have to cold boot it and that sometimes crashes the pathetic Microsoft OS
Double whammy since Toshiba is one of the expensive ones. Anyways nice compilation, found your article on >a href=”http://www/rambhai.com”>rambhai

Mac book is surely the undoubted champion but HP is most used and most popular in all parts of India especially economical.
Does any lappy opther than Dell have Vista inbuilt. That would be nice buy if vista would ship free.

Sony or the Apple Mac is the best in the world but in India price range= Quality, is an important factor as every small corporates cant afford to buy even the best laptops
As India is expanding company should provide good quality, affordable and trustworthy

Sir i want to buy a new laptop, of range 30000 to 45000 plz send me information
April 27th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
I think Apple Macbook is way ahead but i think it will still take some time for Apple to reduce prices and compete with other players. But Sony CR series is somewhere between Apple and other manufacturers. It gives you cool looks with a powerful notebook in prices which can be termed as competitive as compared to Apple and HP. I have recently purchased VAIO CR36 and i m just loving it. Its very light, killer looks, fast processor, adequate RAM, extraordinary battery backup ( around 3.5 hrs with wifi on and around 4+ hrs w/o wifi on). So if u can afford to pay a little extra bucks then i think VAIO is a must to be in ur kitty ..
P.S. : Just check out the EMI scheme from Sony World and prices vary from one Sony World to another Sony World. So pls BARGAIN.
April 29th, 2008 at 6:26 am

May 9th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
I will list few Apple Macbook, Macbook Pro features that are not available on other laptops or notebooks.
1. Better power management and Lithum Polymer Battery
2. Magsafe power adapter with cable organizer
3. 802.11N Wireless (Wifi) network standard
4. Scrollable, multi touch, hard track pad. Macbook pro has extra trackad features and a backlit keyboard.
5. Virus free OS and encryption of data.
6. Run virtually any OS that supports X86 platform
7. FireWire 6 Pin Port
8. Latest processor Line (Penryn) from Intel
9. iLife application software
Kindly note Mac OS X Leopard ver 10.5 has more than 200 odd features that are not available on PCs as standard. You need to install lot of freeware, shareware applications to make a PC fully functional.
You may term me as a strong supporter of Mac or anything. There is a good reason behind.
regards
Mohan

hey guys ,
read up!!!
i bought a dell inspiron 640m about an year ago for 43.5k(including everything.)
remember their price does not include carry case(rs.1500)
my rating 4 it is high.
first of all -DELL HAS THE BEST AFTER SALE SERVICE.
i had just 10-12 dead pixels on my screen and i got it replaced for free (rs.14000 otherwise)-that too the very next day.nd the best part is- they come to your home to fix it and you do not have to go places and hear that the part will take time to come.
it has not crashed often and is compatible with most softwares and hardwares.
even after 1yr,it’s battery gives me a decent back up of 2.5 hrs. with full brightness on.
all in all-dell is a good buy.
i do not know about other brands but my experience with dell has been really good.
