Olive Telecom has launched a new touch screen device called as the ‘OlivePad’ which is of 7″ size and works as a Smartphone and also as a internet tablet. Before getting into the features first of all lets discuss about the product value for money. The tablet works on a ARM11 600MHz processor with 512Mb of RAM and a microSD slot which supports upto 32Gb. These kind of storage options are quite useful for people who want to sync their computer files with their mobile phone.
Apple iPad is still a premium product in India because its not officially available and there is no expected date announced from Apple which makes the device quite hard to buy. Along with this the pricing of Apple iPad is quite hefty ranging in Rs 40,000 to Rs 55,000 range and the OlivePad costs Rs 25,000 which is almost the double of Infibeam Phi which also offers some similar features. The OlivePad could be claimed as one of the best devices based on the price range and features because everyone would not be interested in paying huge amount for a device which is almost linked to the cloud ie transfer of files through iTunes only. This device is quite similar to AigoPad, WePad, HP DreamScreen Tablet & Notion Ink Adam Tablet.
The OlivePad supports full flash support, WiFi , Bluetooth and MicroUSB connectivity making it easy to connect to your local computers and internet networks. Along with this it also supports 720p video playback along with high graphics features with compatibility for Mp3, 3GP, MP4 & AVI formats. The tablet weighs 410 grams and gives you a 16 hours of standby time and 7 hours of talk time which is quite decent enough.
Since the device supports 3G connectivity you can access the Internet easily and get access to the inbuilt GPS applications like Google Maps & MapMyIndia to help you while you are traveling. Along with this you get a full fledged internet browser to access your favorite websites and email accounts. You can easily surf through the Android Market and download the free apps and install them on this device which runs on Android 2.1.

Thank amit for the review. Olive Telecom , i think Haier brand.
“double of Infibeam Phi which also offers some similar features”
check your facts – Infibeam Phi is a resistive touch screen, not capacitive. That makes a whole world of difference in cost and experience.
I was very much interested in taking Olive Pad and ordered one on 22-Nov. They dispatched on 27-Nov to my address. The product is still not delivered due to very very poor routing method of their Courier Partner “First Flight Courier”. Applying, calling First Flight branches gave a very very poor response and really disappointed with their courier before starting using the Olive Tab. I dont know when it is going to get delivered as their website states 3-4 days, God only knows!!!!! Somebody help me.
Kindly send me the the list of distributors of Chandigarh. I am interested.
The device looks sleek and good for the price of INR 25000, although there should have been a processor bit larger in specs than the 600MHz and the 512MB RAM. Still, the Android OS and the 3G compatibility are good to speak about. Thanks to the varied connectivity options, this device can be called a godo competition to the other tablets in the Android family.
