The Windows 7 Phone operating system is seriously very simple and also the most user-friendly I have ever used when compared to the Google Android, Symbian & the iOS by Apple. All of the others have many different options for users customizations or personalization, but for busy people its most simple and limited options which is most favored. In this article we will be discussing about the different options available for the ‘Contacts’ section to the users. The whole of the contacts section is managed under the ‘People Hub’ where in you can easily import your current contacts through different email services like Google and Outlook (Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync) or else find them through Windows Live, Facebook etc.
Adding a New Contact :
Once you have imported all your contacts through different services you can directly email or call them through the ‘Phone’ option. But if you would like to add a new contact them you need to tap on the ‘People tile’. Next under this hub, you need to Press on the ‘+’ symbol icon available on the top right section of your screen.
Next you would be asked to enter the Contact Name, Phone Number, Email Address, Ringtone & other details one by one along with adding a photo thumbnail to the respective contact.
Importing Contacts from SIM Card :
This is one of the important task which would allow you to transfer your current SIM Contacts from the old mobile phone to the new Windows Phone. First you need to Transfer SIM Contacts & Sync Apple iPhone Contacts, Sync Contacts in Samsung Galaxy S etc or use the copy contacts option in Nokia Symbian based phones to first store all the contacts on the SIM Card. Next Insert SIM card into Windows Mobile Phone following which you will have to tap on the ‘People’ tile.
Next tap on ‘all’ and then tap on the ‘import SIM contacts’ option. If you have an account already set up, press and hold people on top of the screen, and then tap settings. You will have set the sorting and display of the contacts following which the importing is started.
Merging Contacts :
If you have imported contacts through the above mentioned different services then there are chances that there could be duplicate contact entries because many of your email based contacts would also be on your Facebook account as friends. Hence its suggested to remove these Windows Live or Facebook based friends and make sure all of them are unique and not duplicate or triplicate entries.
To get started, tap on the ‘People’ tile and then tap on the ‘all’. Tap on the ‘link’ typed icon which would show you a different style depending on the contact if it’s having a duplicate or if it’s a single contact. Do one of the following:
- Under suggested links (if available), tap the contact to link to that contact’s account.
- Tap choose a contact to select a contact from your People list to link to.
Breaking the contact information link between contacts
- On the Start screen, tap the People tile.
- In all of the People hub, tap the name of the contact whose contact information link you want to break.
- Tap unlink.
Search & Delete Contacts :
In order to edit, search or delete a contact from your phone you need to visit the ‘People’ hub, press and hold the contact and then tap on the edit option. Next you will have to change the current contact details with the new ones and then tap on the save icon. In order to search for a contact you will have to Press on the ‘SEARCH’ option and under the search bar you will have to enter a few letters of the first name or last name of the contact.
For deleting a contact you need to tap on the specific contact and while holding it you will get an option to ‘delete’, confirm the task and the job is done. In order to call a contact you will have to just tap on the person’s name and you get a option to ‘call number’ and ‘text number’. Check out other similar articles below.
