Building a Successful Blog by Amit Agarwal [Labnol]

February 16, 2008 by Amit Bhawani

Here is a small info on Amit Agarwal’s presentation at the BarCamp5 which was held in Google Office Hyderabad on Feb 16th.

  • Writing a Personal Blog
  • Finding Fodder[Duplicate Content]
  • Blogging Relationships[Networking with other bloggers] : By communicating with other bloggers, readers and commenting back to the comments made on your blog, the comments left back would make the commentator understand your knowledge levels and send them tips. Internet Forums are the best places to promote your blog posts because you can find like minded/similar business people who would love to read your blog
  • Finding Good Content for your blogs, because good content helps you in long term rather than one time digg homepages etc.
  • Try to have a single original story per day which can help you out in long term blogging.
  • Avoid writing content which is already available online, try to use Google Alerts because they can help you out in getting the latest alerts.
  • Amit Agarwal Labnol

SEO is important which is Legal and can you help you in ranking your websites in the top of the search engines and it helps if you have lower RSS readers, and to get traffic from Search Engines you need to follow the basic search engine principles like Bad Titles,

  • Adsense is The King : Tips on how to use it effectively and making money from it by section targetting and split testing. Using Large Formats and remembering the letter “F” ie the left column/section of any webpage gets the maximum attention and helps you in getting a better conversion rate. Trying out with some experiments on testing the ads.
  • Try not to monetise your websites unless you have got a couple thousand uniques on a daily basis or you have got a good amount of RSS Readers. Also try to avoid adding adverts on your homepage section.
  • Try to stop selling text links, link exchanges, and paid posts or cross linking because this is something which can make your website lose its PR because recently Matt Cutts has also announced about this Issue
  • Dealing with Plagiarists by sending them a Polite email and DMCA notice with Copyright Information
  • Schedule your Content and try not to disappoint your readers
  • Never try to Attack someone and try to avoid personal attackts like talking good about Microsoft and bad amount Apple.
  • Use Email subscription service because it has got a lot of potential.
  • Try to have a decent about us page and make your visitor understand about you and help you in gaining more subscribers
  • Avoid thinking about Google Page Rank because it has nothing to do with your revenue.

Sumit the first thing i would recommend you is getting a self hosted wordpress blog and self owned domain name rather than a .co.cc because they really suck in the search engines. Learn how to start a website

This short post is worth more than 100 crappy posts on “How to increase your income through adsense”. Each and every tip here is practical and very very useful. I will try to incorporate the most of them, beginning from the SEO tips.

I already read that Amit, he is a great prefessional blogger.
think something Amit, two great professional bloggers from same country have the name Amit.
What i liked in the amit agarwals guide was his suggestion about page rank, i mean he said to stop thinking about page rank, but do we get traffic through google if we dont have page rank.

Search Engine is useful for the People who are expert in SEO .and I believe those who fall in Top 10 get the advantage and others out of game
Those who think about fashion of publishing,Hobby of collecting as well as sharing of knowledge should not to think about SEO but write it- save IT – publish it – and refer back whenever you want it .
successful Blogger differs the way they write not the theme they write . What I meant to say like speakers who handle same topic and Differ in their communication , presentation and organizing

I believe the Bloggospere is for those people who have attractive communication skills,Presentation skills and Finally organizing the Information .
Content give you advantage in the short run because other do research on it gather more and write better from your own Topic
That why I believe in sharing and Forget it Blogging style rather than creating the contents for the Search Engine
